I hear “Why AI” question a lot, I assume you will hear it as well. Your manager, your peers will ask you, “aren’t there any other solutions?” More than often there are other “solutions” which are decent, but not necessarily good enough for your product. Your co-workers may steer you away from AI for two main reasons: they think it is faster, and it is cheaper to implement a non-AI solution. Developing and implementing AI takes some effort, there are people/teams that deal with data, developing models, and putting the models in production. If you are working at a company that is not an AI-fueled business yet, these arguments shall make sense to many people. But they are not good enough arguments, and they are holding your organization to be a well oiled machine for having AI models in production. The work that you put into modeling and validation, and the follow up work that needs to put in for productionalization and monitoring is not waste of time. Without AI experience you can’t be an AI-fueled business either. You need to be in “journey” mindset to reach to a successful AI business, once you reach out to that stage you will see that it is not only cheaper and faster to build AI solutions, it is also more bang for your buck.
As an AI enthusiast, contributor, manager, or an executive one of your job duties is continuously talk about AI, share its tremendous benefits.
